At last, the rain has stopped. Seeing a patch of blue sky for the first time in a while brought a sense of relief. At the same time, however, swarms of winged ants have suddenly appeared. It brought back memories of a similar outbreak a few years ago. Nature’s power is immense. It also seems that this season often brings frequent earthquakes. Since ancient times, people have lived with a deep sense of awe toward the forces of nature. I believe the Japanese, in particular, have long been a people who respected nature and learned to live alongside it. That attitude feels just as important today as it has ever been.

I visited the dentist today. Even though I practiced while dealing with a toothache, it was strange how completely I forgot about it during training. By taking deep breaths, I was able to avoid unnecessarily amplifying the pain. Medication certainly has its place, but it also comes with side effects. Deep breathing, on the other hand, has none.
After practice, I intend to give my body the rest it needs. The dentist also mentioned that a weakened immune system can contribute to dental pain. It was a good reminder that recovery is not only about treating the tooth itself but also about taking care of the body as a whole. Training is important, but so is rest. Just as nature moves through cycles of storm and calm, perhaps we also need periods of effort and periods of recovery in order to remain healthy and continue moving forward.
