I have started looking forward to having lunch at the university cafeteria. I enjoy having an ordinary meal at one of the cafeterias on the Hiroshima University campus.
However, I am hopeless when I haven’t decided what to eat beforehand. As I walked past the food counters, I kept picking up things that caught my eye. By the time I reached the end, my tray had a fried fish fillet, fried rice, yakisoba, and udon on it. I was completely dissatisfied with my choices.
This is just a personal thought, but I feel that when we eat, we are also experiencing a food culture. Udon goes well with an onigiri, fried rice goes well with ramen, and yakisoba… perhaps with rice? I’m not entirely sure about the exact combinations, but I believe certain foods simply go better together.
My desire to create the perfect combination was completely crushed. There were no onigiri available, the fried rice and yakisoba were sold as a set, and the fried fish looked delicious with its tartar sauce. In the end, my stomach was left confused.
Well, that’s all there is to that story.

I think I managed the time better than I did last week. I am gradually getting a better sense of how much time each technique takes.
It is difficult to manage the timing when new people join the practice. Setting the appropriate level of difficulty is also challenging.
Little by little, the students become more accustomed to the practice. But I suppose the person teaching also becomes more accustomed to it.
Well, I think that’s just fine.
