西条中学校で6／７に二級の審査を受けた方がおられ、同時期にやってきた仲間が今日は動画での昇級審査撮影となりました。東広島は遠方であり、終わってから江田島に帰宅する時間は２２時を過ぎます。小さなお子さんがおられる方などはどうしても東広島まで出向けない事情もあります。しかし、そんな方でもここまで積み上げてきたものを師範に見てもらって、昇級をしていくことはとても価値があることです。師範の指導は私が伝えることとして、科学技術の進歩で可能になった動画での審査を試みてみることになりました。

緊張とは誰の緊張なのでしょうか。人間は共鳴する生き物。誰かの緊張は私の緊張です。同時に私の緊張が審査を受けた彼女も緊張させたことでしょう。しかし、緊張しながらも、しっかり最後まで頑張って審査を終えてくれました。できる限り、師範と同じ順番で審査をしてもらいました。大人になって審査を受けること自体が新鮮な体験です。すごく上達していると思いますが、さらに上を目指してもらえたらと思います。みんな素晴らしいと感じました！
A member who took the 2nd kyu examination on June 7 at Saijo Junior High School had a fellow practitioner from the same generation of students complete a promotion examination by video recording today.
Higashihiroshima is a considerable distance away, and returning to Etajima after training often means getting home after 10 p.m. For those with young children or other family responsibilities, traveling all the way to Higashihiroshima is not always possible. Even so, it is extremely valuable for such practitioners to have the opportunity to show the results of their hard work to the shihan and continue progressing through the ranks.
While I can pass along the shihan’s teachings directly, advances in technology have made video-based examinations possible. For that reason, we decided to try conducting the promotion examination through recorded video.

Whose tension is tension, really?
Human beings are creatures that resonate with one another. Someone else’s nervousness becomes my nervousness. At the same time, my own tension surely influenced her as she took the examination. Yet despite that pressure, she persevered and completed the examination from beginning to end.
We arranged the examination sequence to follow the shihan’s format as closely as possible. Simply taking an examination as an adult is a fresh and unusual experience in itself. I believe she has improved tremendously, and I hope she continues aiming even higher.
Watching everyone’s effort reminded me once again how remarkable this group is. I felt that each person showed courage, commitment, and growth. Everyone was truly impressive.
