昨日熊本でとても大きな地震がありました。一夜明けて、被害状況が少しずつ明るみになってきています。災害派遣された救助隊の方や、地域の消防隊、消防団、有志の方のにより、懸命の救助活動が継続されています。被災された方々はただでさえ厳しい暑さの中で二次災害につながらないことを切に願うばかりです。救助にあたられている方を無力ながら応援申しあげると共に、被災された方、地域が一早く復旧の目処が経つことを心からお祈りしています。

最近は体調不良者などもおられ、なかなか少人数化している。タイパもコスパも見えない武芸に興味を持つ人も少なくなった。師範の技をみていると師範とは合気道の源となっている人だと思う。その道は平坦ではなかっただろう、想像もできない。ただ思う、彼なら最後の一人になっても稽古をするだろう。
Yesterday, a major earthquake struck Kumamoto. As a new day has dawned, the extent of the damage is gradually becoming clearer. Rescue teams dispatched to the disaster area, local fire departments, volunteer firefighters, and many dedicated volunteers continue to carry out tireless rescue operations. I sincerely hope that those affected will remain safe from further harm despite the severe summer heat and the risk of secondary disasters.
Though there is little I can do from afar, I offer my deepest support to everyone involved in the rescue efforts. I also pray from the bottom of my heart that the affected communities will find a path toward recovery as quickly as possible.

Recently, attendance has been lower than usual, partly because several members have been unwell. Fewer and fewer people seem interested in a martial art that offers no obvious gains in efficiency or measurable return. It is difficult to explain the value of something that cannot be captured by concepts such as time efficiency or cost effectiveness.
When I watch my shihan, however, I feel that he embodies the very source from which Aikido flows. I can only imagine the hardships he must have endured along the way. His path could not have been an easy one.
Yet I cannot help thinking this: even if only one person remained, he would still continue to practice.
There is something profoundly inspiring about that kind of commitment. It is a reminder that the true value of practice does not depend on the number of people in the dojo or on external recognition. It lies in the quiet decision to continue walking the path, day after day, simply because the path itself is worth following.
