Even though I am not busy at all, somehow I feel completely busy. There are countless things I should be doing, and yet it feels as though there is nothing to do. Sometimes I wonder if life is simply like that. Once you begin something like cleaning or cutting the grass, there is no end to it, and because the task feels so endless, it becomes difficult even to begin. When I think only about the result and the time it will take, it feels as though in the end nothing is truly gained. I know this already, and yet I still find myself thinking it over again and again. I let out a sigh, wondering if it will rain again today.

It has now been three years since starting this dojo, and I record every practice session on camera. Watching those recordings has become my textbook. The camera’s perspective teaches me that even when I think I am observing myself objectively, there are still things I fail to see. It also reveals habits and tendencies that I cannot notice during practice itself. How should zanshin be expressed? Why does a technique end in a certain way? There are reasons for these things. The form of zanshin is extremely important for truly understanding a technique correctly.
