There are ordinary moons, large moons, yellow moons, orange moons. Night after night, these different moons appear in the sky, yet we pass them without finding it strange at all. The fact that humanity has spent tens of thousands of years looking up at such a vast and mysterious object without thinking much of it is, in itself, fascinating.
Seeing the moon tonight reminded me of Haruki Murakami’s 1Q84, where there were two moons in the sky. I wonder—if there were two moons above us right now, would we simply accept them as if they had always been there? If we can overlook something as extraordinary as this great moon, perhaps we could.

There are many mysteries in this world. There are different kinds of “existence”—things that exist in the world of science, things that exist in imagination, and things that exist through the lenses we look through. For example, if there were glasses capable of making invisible particles visible, those particles would appear before our eyes. Wouldn’t that mean they exist?
If so, we should be careful not to limit what can exist. What matters is finding the lenses through which we can perceive it.
For me, Aikido is one of those lenses.
