At this time of year, when the cherry blossoms in Etajima begin to bloom in earnest, I always feel that there is a lot of rain.
The flowers have only just started to open, so the rain is not enough to scatter them yet, but once they bloom more fully, the rain seems to carry the petals away all at once, which feels a little lonely. Rain is important, of course, but I cannot help wishing it would wait just a little longer.
This weekend there will be the 40th anniversary ceremony of the Hiroshima Prefecture Aikido Federation, and once that is over, the new year will begin. At the start of the year we also have promotion tests coming up, so I want to practice seriously again.

Since one member will take the 2nd kyu test and another will take the 3rd kyu test, I need to work on two different levels at the same time.
As expected, the member preparing for 2nd kyu already has solid 3rd kyu techniques, which makes things easier.
The techniques required for each grade are only a small part of what we usually practice.
However, they become the pillars that support all the other techniques.
Techniques trained under a certain amount of pressure become strong foundations for everything else.
So we should practice them carefully and seriously.
