One of the members who was with us when the dojo first opened came by to visit today. I am grateful for everyone who trains here, regardless of when they joined, but I have especially deep feelings for those who were there in the beginning. In those early days, simply making practice possible was a challenge, and their support helped sustain the dojo through that period.
Because Etajima is home to military training schools, many people come here on temporary assignments and train with us only for a short time. That is simply the reality of our location. Yet meeting and training with different people is one of the great joys of Aikido. For that reason, I hope this dojo will always remain a place with an open door.
I would like it to be something like a teahouse at a mountain pass—a place where people can stop by without hesitation, train together, and leave feeling refreshed in spirit.

Today, all five members who had recently earned promotions were present, so we held a small award ceremony. The meaning of a rank is something that each person must discover for themselves. Every practitioner finds a different value in it, shaped by their own experiences and goals.
All of our members balance Aikido with the responsibilities of everyday life. Making time for training is never easy. It requires effort, sacrifice, and persistence over a long period of time. Seeing everyone reach this milestone reminded me how much work they have invested.
More than anything, I want to say: congratulations, and thank you for your dedication. You have all worked very hard, and it has been a privilege to share this journey with you.
