天気がいい日が続いていて、雨も多いと聞いて傘をしっかり持参したのに、まるで気持ちの良い気候が当然のように草木や動物が喜んでいるのを至る所で見ることができる。日本に比べて、平日の公園で過ごす親子連れも多いし、なにかみんな幸せそうに見える。医療制度や社会制度についても、ここハイタースハイムは特に進んだ地域であり、皆の共生に向けた都市計画がいつも遂行中だ。計画は5年10年のスパンではない40年50年というスパンでの計画らしい。日本が学ぶべきことは多い。

The fine weather has continued day after day. I had been told that rain is frequent here, so I made sure to bring an umbrella, yet the pleasant climate seems almost taken for granted, as if the trees and plants themselves are rejoicing in it.
Compared with Japan, I notice many more parents and children spending time together in parks even on weekdays. Somehow everyone appears relaxed and happy. In terms of the healthcare and social systems, this area—Heitersheim in particular—is considered quite advanced. Urban planning here is constantly being carried out with the aim of coexistence within the community. What is striking is the time scale: the plans are not based on five or ten years, but on spans of forty or fifty years. There is much that Japan could learn from this.
