今年の江田島道場初稽古を終えました。巷では風邪が流行っている様子ですが、みんな無事に年越しをして稽古にこられたので安心しました。どこまで信じるか、何を信じるか、はそれぞれ個人に任せられ、世の中に正義や真理なんて存在しないというスタンスですが、健康が得難い宝物であることはかなりの説得力をもって真理に近いと感じます。合気道が素晴らしい理由の一つも、健康に寄与できるという側面なしでは語れないと思います。

やはり稽古は楽しいです。最近は演武の稽古も多かったので、技を正確に、行う稽古はとても楽しく感じます。全てを完璧な動きにすることに集中することはそれほど良いことな気はしませんが、的当に技をすることはそれもまた相手への配慮を欠いているとも思います。一回一回の技を6割くらいの技で相手に合わせて正しくできたら素晴らしいと思いました。
We have finished the first training session of the year at the Etajima Dojo. It seems that colds are going around these days, but everyone made it safely through the New Year and was able to come to practice, which was a relief.
How far we choose to believe, and what we choose to believe in, is left to each individual. I take the stance that there is no such thing as absolute justice or truth in this world. However, the idea that good health is a rare and precious treasure feels very close to the truth, and carries considerable persuasive power. One of the reasons Aikido is so wonderful, I believe, cannot be spoken of without mentioning its contribution to health.

Practice is, after all, enjoyable. Recently we have done a lot of training for demonstrations, so practicing techniques accurately feels especially enjoyable. I do not feel that focusing on making everything perfectly precise is necessarily a good thing, but doing techniques carelessly also lacks consideration for one’s partner. I felt that it would be ideal if, each time, we could perform techniques correctly while matching our partner, at about sixty percent intensity.
