葡萄がなっていました。葡萄は蔓を伸ばして、葉を伸ばし、実をつけます。格子に満遍なく葉を茂らせて、適度に実を間引くことで、実を太らせることができるそうです。我が家の葡萄は実が２つ３つしかつけていないので、間引くどころか、過保護に見守っている最中です。大切すぎて食べられるのか心配です。さて今日の稽古は

５逆半身片手取り呼吸投げ
６逆半身片手取り隅落とし
７両手取り天地投げ
８逆半身片手取り回転投げ
をしました。体の変換は体の変更などいろいろな呼ばれ方をしますが、合気道においてとても基本の、しかしとても難易度の高い技の一つだと思います。入身の動作も入っていますし、力の均衡を作り結びを作る意識や、また、受けの動作の中心を攻める意識も必要です。基本中の基本でありながら、それをそれなりの型として表現するには、受けと取りの合気道に対する理解が求められる動きだからです。その動きを今日は、この江田島国際合気道で合気道を初めて始めた方だけの中で行ってみました。それは私にとってもとても挑戦的な技選びです。ハテナばかりで終わるだけで、何も得るものがないのでは、それを取り入れることは私にとってとても危険だからです。しかし、みなさんとの信頼関係で今日の稽古も無事終わることができました。いつも思います、私のいろいろと訳のわからない戯言をしっかりと理解しようと稽古に来ていただいている生徒さんの素晴らしさは一流です。
The grapes have started to grow. Grapes extend their vines, spread their leaves, and produce fruit. By evenly distributing the leaves over the trellis and thinning out the fruit clusters, you can help the grapes grow larger. Our grapes at home only have two or three clusters, so instead of thinning them out, we’re currently watching over them protectively. They are so precious that I’m worried we might never get around to eating them. Now, onto today’s practice:

- Breakfall techniques
- Body change techniques
- Reverse stance single-hand grab breath throw
- Reverse stance single-hand grab corner drop
- Both-hands grab heaven-and-earth throw
- Reverse stance single-hand grab rotary throw
Body change techniques, also known by various names such as body modification, are fundamental yet highly challenging in Aikido. They involve entering movements and the creation of balance and connection, as well as the focus on attacking the center of the uke’s movement. Although basic, these techniques require a deep understanding of both uke and tori’s roles in Aikido to be properly expressed.
Today, we practiced these movements with a group of beginners here at Etajima International Aikido. It was a challenging choice of techniques for me to introduce. If the session ended with everyone confused and gaining nothing, it would have been risky for me to incorporate these techniques. However, thanks to the trust and relationship we have built, today’s practice concluded successfully.
I am always amazed by the dedication and willingness of my students to understand my often confusing explanations. Their excellence and commitment are truly top-notch.
