The cherry tree in my yard has grown so large that its branches have reached the roof, which has become a problem. With the help of my parents, we’ve been trying different methods to trim it down, but I was shocked by how heavy the living branches are.
Since I don’t want to damage the house and cause trouble for the landlord, we have to act quickly. The tree is already full of buds, preparing to bloom, so I feel guilty about cutting it now. However, once the leaves start to grow, it will become even harder to manage, making me feel even more pressured to get this done safely.

We started today’s training by practicing how to grip our partner’s hand. In my opinion, even this basic action is quite difficult in Aikido.
Rather than using brute force, the grip should feel natural, as if holding a katana, with power coming from the tanden (core energy center) rather than the hands.
When I trained at the Hombu Dojo, I was amazed by how the instructors’ grips felt—soft yet incredibly strong.
A good uke (receiver) is both relaxed and strong, and their quality of receiving impacts the quality of the techniques performed. Through mutual cooperation and repeated practice, I hope everyone can continue improving.
