Fighting against the drowsiness from jet lag, I somehow made it back to Etajima. When I first returned to Japan, the weather felt warm, but today I could clearly feel the cold in the air. Thinking about it, Freiburg may actually have been warmer, and it still looks like it will take a little more time before the flowers here begin to bloom all at once.

In Germany, many buildings have excellent insulation, and indoors I hardly felt the cold at all. Perhaps that made the chill in Hiroshima feel even sharper after coming back. I traveled during a season when it is difficult to choose the right clothing, but I am grateful that I was able to get through the ten days without getting sick.

People in Germany also seem to have a very strong awareness of organic living. Spending my daily life surrounded by so many artificial and chemical things, I felt that I should reconsider some of my own habits. In a way, the next journey has already begun.

Playful Practice

  1. Warm-up exercises
  2. Bear walk, spider walk
  3. Knee walking
  4. Becoming familiar with the staff
  5. The 25 jo kata

Main Practice

  1. Aiki warm-up exercises
  2. Footwork
  3. Ukemi
  4. Gyaku-hanmi katate-dori sankyo stretch
  5. Ki-awase shomen-uchi irimi-nage stretch

  7. Kata-dori men-uchi kote-gaeshi (omote)

Now, with a renewed mind, it is time to take care of practice here in Etajima as well.
Practice is the foundation. That does not change.

Everyone is improving. By stimulating muscles that we do not usually use, little by little we build the body for Aikido.
