「親しき仲にも礼儀あり」とは誰がいった言葉なのでしょうか。私もたくさん喧嘩をしてきました。力は弱いので、取っ組み合いの喧嘩はあまりないですが、幼い頃は主に姉と、大人になってからでも正直色々な方に意見を感情的にぶつけることもありました。しかし今は知っています。人と人には適切な距離があると、それを超えて近づいてしまうと、どんなに大切な相手でも、その大切さを忘れて啀み合ってしまうものであると。だから距離をとることができるなら、距離をとってみる。それが実は解決法になることがあります。逆にいうと、どれほど好き同士でも、適切な距離を取ることが、関係を長続きさせる秘訣なのだと思います。さて今日の稽古は

をやりました。人と人との距離の話をしましたが、合気道においてもとても大切なもの、それは間合いです。腕力ではない力を使う合気道において、相手のどの間合いに位置取るかは大きな力を与える、とても大切な要素です。そこに位置を取ることと、そしてそのタイミングを何度も練習していきます。
Who originally said the phrase, “Even among close friends, courtesy must be maintained”? I’ve had my fair share of arguments too. Since I’m not very strong, I haven’t had many physical confrontations, but as a child, I often fought with my sister, and even as an adult, I’ve sometimes emotionally clashed with others when expressing my opinions. However, now I understand: there’s an appropriate distance between people. If you get too close, no matter how important the person is to you, you may forget their importance and start to quarrel. That’s why, if possible, it’s sometimes better to keep a bit of distance. That can actually be the solution. On the other hand, I’ve come to believe that maintaining an appropriate distance, even between people who care deeply for each other, is the secret to sustaining a long-lasting relationship.

Speaking of the distance between people, it’s also a crucial concept in Aikido, known as maai (distance or spacing). In Aikido, where physical strength is not the primary force used, the distance at which you position yourself relative to your opponent becomes a key element in applying effective force. We practiced repeatedly focusing on positioning within that space and on the timing, both of which are critical aspects of technique.
