稽古レポート

 やっと中国地方も梅雨が明けました。島の梅雨明けは自宅にこもっているには勿体無い青空が広がります。しかし外に出ると1分とたたないうちに暑さに負けて陰に入らないといけない、気持ちと現実にギャップのできる天気です。洗濯物を乾かすのが気持ちの良い季節がきました。子供の頃に戻って海で遊びたい気持ちすら出てきます。

今日の稽古は少人数でしたので、色々と稽古生の皆さんが気になるポイントを一つ一つ抑えながら稽古してみました。それにお答えすることでそんな疑問点を持つのかと私も勉強になります。体操の時の体の使い方で技をすること、のびのびと気持ちの良い姿勢と呼吸で技をすること、その姿勢を相手とのタイミングを合わせてとることが技ができる秘訣になっていることを再確認しました。私は体操を大切にしています。体操通り相手と一つになれたらいいなぁと感じます。

At last, the rainy season has ended here in the Chūgoku region. On an island like Etajima, the sky after the rainy season is so brilliantly blue that it seems a shame to stay indoors. Yet the moment you step outside, reality quickly catches up with you. Within a minute, the summer heat drives you toward the nearest patch of shade. It is the kind of weather that creates a gap between what the heart wants and what the body can comfortably endure.

Still, it is the season when hanging laundry outside feels wonderfully satisfying. It even awakens a childhood desire to spend the day playing in the sea.

Because attendance was small today, we were able to spend time focusing carefully on the points that each student was curious about. Addressing their questions was valuable for me as well. Their perspectives often make me realize things that I might otherwise overlook.

Through today’s practice, I was reminded once again that techniques should be performed using the same body mechanics developed during the warm-up exercises. A relaxed posture, natural breathing, and an open, comfortable way of moving are all essential. The key is then learning to take that posture and synchronize it with the timing of a partner.

I place great importance on the warm-up exercises. They are not merely preparation for practice; they contain many of the principles found within the techniques themselves. If I could move with a partner as naturally and harmoniously as those exercises suggest, becoming truly one with their movement, I think that would be a wonderful expression of Aikido.
