昨日江田島にも小さな地震がありました。やはり気圧に地盤が引っ張られるせいでしょうか、低気圧と地震はいつもセットな気がします。石川県におきましては、豪雨災害、土砂災害が発生したとのことであり、被害に遭われた方にお見舞い申し上げます。気候変動は始まっています。災害が何か当然のように訪れる昨今、如何に気候変動と付き合うか、それを考える時が来ています。

今日は、朝から広島県合気道連盟主催の指導者講習会に参加してきました。文科省の武道必修化に伴い、授業への合気道の取り組み方や、基本動作における注意点、アドバイスを合気会本部道場師範である梅津翔師範、藤巻宏師範より教わりました。学校教育における合気道については、興味はありました。私自身以前から、合気道は人間教育においていろいろな大切なことを学べる素晴らしいツールだと思っている人間なので、学校教育においても、その存在意義の可能性は大きいと考えていました。しかし武道に興味のない、合気道に興味のない、学生、生徒への指導となると、現場のリアルは簡単ではないことが伝わってきました。自己責任とは言えない、絶対怪我をさせられない教育現場の現実。そして、そのリスクを背負って行う指導者の生活を支えられないベネフィットの不十分さ。経済停滞を自治体が抱え、事業仕分けに走る最近では、問題は山積みであるとのことでした。とても難しい、世の中には、終わらない戦争や、原子力発電への依存や、天下り癒着談合や、とても難しい問題が山積みですが、、その一つに教育もあるのだなと感じました。
Yesterday, there was a small earthquake in Etajima. It seems like the atmospheric pressure pulls on the earth’s crust, as low pressure systems and earthquakes always seem to come together. I’d like to extend my sympathies to those affected by the heavy rain and landslides in Ishikawa Prefecture. Climate change is already underway. In a time when disasters seem to occur as if they’re inevitable, we now need to consider how to live in harmony with climate change.

Today, I participated in an instructor workshop organized by the Hiroshima Prefecture Aikido Federation. The seminar was led by Shihan Sho Umezawa and Shihan Hiroshi Fujimaki from the Aikikai Hombu Dojo, and focused on how to integrate Aikido into school curriculums following the Ministry of Education’s decision to make martial arts mandatory. They also gave advice on important points and precautions in basic movements.
I’ve always been interested in Aikido’s role in education. Personally, I believe Aikido is an excellent tool for teaching various important life lessons, so I see its potential significance in school education. However, it became clear that instructing students who have no interest in martial arts or Aikido is not an easy task in practice. The reality of education is that, unlike personal responsibility, ensuring no one gets injured is a non-negotiable priority. Moreover, the benefits of such work are insufficient to support the lives of instructors who bear these risks. In light of the ongoing economic stagnation faced by local governments, and the prioritization of cost-cutting, numerous problems remain unresolved.
It’s a difficult situation. Our society faces many unresolved issues: endless wars, dependence on nuclear power, corruption in public office, and more. Education, it seems, is just another one of these complex challenges.
