昼間には春のような風が吹いて、春の足音が少し聞こえています。我が家は裏がすぐ山なので、気温が下がりやすく、また逆に気温が上がり始めると、虫たちがすぐに家の中に入ってくるので、冬は寒くて憂鬱ではありますが、虫に会わずに生活できると考えると冬は安心できます。気温の高い夏は、帰宅するとまず部屋中を虫がいないかチェックしないといけませんし、チクリと何かが足を刺した気がすると、すぐに立ち上がってムカデがいないか確かめる癖までできてしまいました。ストレスのない生活なんていりませんが、安心できる生活はとても大切だと、原始時代みたいな感覚を日々擬似体験しているのです。さて今日は

正面打ちを何週か連続でやってきましたので、とりあえずは本日で終わりにします。正面打ちもとても取り上げると色々な合気道の大切な要素が詰まっていて、とても面白かったです。当然ですが、これまでやってきた相半身片手取りや逆半身片手取りで習得してきた捌き方、力の使い方と共通した技がたくさんあり、積み上げてきたことを実感していただけたと思います。全ての技が繋がっていて、体系的に学ぶことができるのが当道場の合気道の面白さだと思います。さて来週からは肩取りなど逆半身系の技を深めていきたいと思います。
The warm wind during the day makes it feel like spring is just around the corner. Living in a house backed by a mountain, we experience the temperatures dropping quickly in winter. On the other hand, when the temperature starts to rise, insects quickly find their way into the house. While winter can feel cold and gloomy, there’s a sense of relief knowing we can live without worrying about insects. In the warmer seasons, the moment I return home, I need to thoroughly check the rooms for any bugs. If I feel a sting on my foot, I instinctively jump up to check if it’s a centipede. Over time, it’s become a habit. Life without any stress isn’t necessary, but I’ve come to realize that a life with a sense of safety is very important. It’s like living in a simulation of primitive times, dealing with the challenges of nature on a daily basis.

After several weeks of focusing on shomen-uchi, today’s practice marks the end of this particular theme. Great work, everyone! Although shomen-uchi appears to be a simple movement, it encapsulates the essence of aikido, making it a highly profound technique. Repeated practice must have brought about many valuable insights.
It’s fascinating that the movements and techniques built through practices like aihanmi katate-dori or gyaku-hanmi katate-dori share many similarities with shomen-uchi. The ability to see how accumulated techniques interconnect and form a coherent system is part of the unique enjoyment that aikido offers. Practitioners have likely gained a deeper appreciation of how every skill they learn eventually plays a role.
Next week, you’ll be delving into kata-dori and reverse-stance techniques. These will surely provide new learning opportunities and discoveries. With their distinctive movements and energy application, studying kata-dori will offer another layer of aikido’s depth. I look forward to hearing how it progresses!
